Lessons learned on VRF and COVID-19
Weber State University
Justin Owen is the Energy Manager at Weber State University and Jacob Cain is the Director of Operations. They lead a multidisciplinary team with the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050 and have worked on achieving $1.8 million in utility savings. WSU is in the process of shifting entirely to a VRF based HVAC and Justin and Jacob have been leading this effort and have hands on experience and knowledge of the issues encountered with them. They have developed a systematic approach for large-scale VRF and we are very lucky to have them be willing to share their experiences with us.
University Of Utah
With a uniquely-broad blend of experience in business management and engineering, Chris Benson has played an important role in energy and sustainability projects across 58 million square feet of buildings and saving millions of dollars in energy costs each year.
Since the beginning of 2017, Chris has been managing the University of Utah’s Facilities Sustainability & Energy division. His team is responsible for benchmarking performance across 282 buildings, managing utility procurement (including access to renewable energy), and leading strategy to fund and execute operational initiatives that will help the University achieve its commitment to carbon neutrality and improved local air quality.
