Battery storage is quickly moving from a technology of the future to a technology of today.  We have the following speakers to provide insight into how batteries are being used currently:

  •      Bob Vorwald currently manages and recommissions energy projects for Utah-Yamas Controls.  He has managed and developed energy saving performance contracts for almost 30 years.  Bob will discuss several of his projects that incorporated batteries for demand response and load shifting.
  • Roland Howard manages Hunt Electric’s Renewable Energy Division.  Hunt has been installing battery storage for residential, commercial, and utility scale projects.  Roland will present on Hunt’s own project.  They are building a Micro-Grid that includes renewables, a generator, and battery storage.

  •  Lin Alder manages the commercial program for Rocky Mountain Power’s wattsmart program.  Lin will share RMPs experience installing batteries to support the electric grid as renewable power comes on line.  They specifically worked with Wasatch Development and Sonnen to install solar and batteries at a 600 unit multi-family development (Soleil Lofts) and a commercial grade deployment of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Panguitch, UT.
