CO2 Capture and Its Role in Decarbonizing Industry

CO2 capture is a technology with a ride range of applications from point source capture at fossil fired power plants to decarbonizing hydrogen production from natural gas to make low to no carbon fuels.  This presentation will cover the basics of CO2 capture technology as well as their most suitable applications.  It will also highlight the challenges of what to do with the CO2 once it is captured.  The strategies for decarbonizing point sources at various scales will be discussed to show how CO2 capture will likely be deployed or utilized to meet decarbonization goals

Presenter: Will Morris, Ph.D.

Dr. Morris received a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah and has worked in CO2 capture and emissions controls primarily in the power industry for the past 12 years.  He has provided consulting domestically and internationally on CO2 capture projects.  Currently, his focus is on managing the Wyoming Integrated Test Center, a post combustion CO2 research facility, and providing consulting to the nation’s electric cooperatives in the areas of decarbonization and the impacts of "net zero” targets to the electric grid and energy system.
