ASHRAE/AEE: Turning Energy Data into Action
We are entering the golden age of energy transparency, but data without analysis is merely noise. While high-resolution interval usage data is more accessible than ever, the true competitive advantage lies in the ability to interpret it. This seminar explores the frontier of energy analytics through the lens of custom-built Python techniques and advanced methodologies derived from current literature. We will move beyond standard dashboards to demonstrate how scripted, reproducible analysis can uncover opportunities for load optimization, onsite energy opportunities, and room for fiscal improvement. Join us to see how the intersection of data science and building operations can transform granular electrical streams participants and not just end users on the electric grid.

Dr. Blake Billings - Oak Ridge National Laboratory
Dr. Blake Billings is an R&D staff member in the Manufacturing Energy Efficiency Research and Analysis Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He is a Technical Account Manager for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Buildings, Better Plants Program supporting companies with technical assistance and workforce development related to manufacturing energy efficiency. Before coming to ORNL, Blake was the lead student and commercial program manager with the Intermountain Industrial Assessment Center at the University of Utah. Blake has had experience working with private manufacturing and with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Blake received his BS degree in chemical engineering from Brigham Young University and his MS and PhD degrees, also in chemical engineering, from the University of Utah. His research focuses on industrial demand response, industrial interval data, and nationwide manufacturing energy modeling.
